In defense of pure and virtuous principles...
I have a duty and obligation to defend pure and virtuous principles. These are principles that establish God as the supreme being in my life. They are principles that establish and defend individual freedom or what some may call moral agency.
It is critical that we each understand this or we fail to grasp the purpose of limited government. Limited government must be established and protected because each one of us is personally responsible and accountable to our God. It is more difficult to hold us personally responsible for our actions if the government controls what we do or say.
Freedom of speech is a virtuous principle. The right to worship how, where or what we may is a virtuous principle. The right to defend our property, lives and individual freedoms - even unto bloodshed - is a virtuous principle. Each one of these principles establish the supremacy of God in our lives and our accountability to him.
Government is instituted for the protection of our God given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In this context we must recognize our obligations to establish laws that protect these rights and govern our affairs with each other. In the creation of law we must recognize that law is force - it is a blunt instrument. We must be careful in the establishment of law - otherwise we will create corrupt laws and will obtain the ugly results of unintended consequences.
The U.S. Constitution was established to "create a more perfect union." It was established to protect pure and virtuous principles.
